My Memorial Weekend Shopping Haul Part 1

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone is enjoyed their weekend. I most certainly did. We cleaned our backyard, getting it ready for the summer, (which is my favorite season). I love hosting cookouts and spending time with my family and friends.

I also love shopping Memorial weekend. I find the most incredible sales. This is when I do most of my stocking up on my supplies for my jewelry designing business.

I would like to share my shopping haul from Joann’s. This is my most favorite craft store. I like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s but I prefer Joann’s. I love the Wheaton location here in Maryland most of all. I have been to Joann’s in Cockeysville, (which is in Baltimore, 62 miles one way for me), Gaithersburg, MD (35 miles one way) and Dunkirk, MD (45 miles one way).

I purchased 16 strands of beads, with store 60% off and a 20% off of the total purchase coupon. I also bought some buttons for my button earrings and some ear hooks. My total after saving $21.10 which without coupons and sale would have cost nearly $40.00.

Here is just one photo but I will be adding more later. Normally, I would take my photos outside  but it’s raining.

Thanks for stopping by.
Update: photos are uploaded.

Out With the Old and in With New.

Today, I took on the task of cleaning out one of my jewelry boxes and I came across some old pieces I used to wear and became very excited. I forgot I had these items and it made me happy to become reacquainted with them again.

As I was investigating them I realized that maybe my style had changed just a little. I no longer wish to wear the necklaces anymore but soon realized the stone are pretty cool. I also noticed that the findings on the earrings are tarnished so I don’t want to put them in my ears.

I go simply crazy over a cool pair of earrings, so I decided to make some new earring with my old pieces. For me, there are no rules to making and selecting a pair of earrings. As long as there fun I am all in. I do have special pairs  that I only wear in the office but other than that, no holds barred.

I didn’t mention it previously but I started making my jewelry three years ago but earrings are my most favorite to make. I make earrings out of wood, cardboard, buttons, yarn, etc. I just like having fun with it. OK, I’m going off topic.

Making earrings are so fast and easy to make. If you have some old necklaces or bracelets you don’t wear anymore, instead of getting rid of them dismantle and make you a fresh pair of earrings.

Balling on a Budget

Balling on a budget. Going Thrifty Diving

Back in 2000 I stumbled upon a small thrift store in Gaitherburg, Maryland. I found myself going back every week just to see new inventory.  I started looking for other thrift stores in and around the area. I  wanted to find any little piece valuable jewel to make me happy. Okay, I was hooked.

I went to a thrift store in Silver Spring, Maryland today and I found three cute gems I want to share. I have found buried treasures before but three in one day? It must be my birthday!

Oh, did I mention I paid only $21.00 for these cuties? Thanks for stopping by.

Handmade Necklace and Earring Set

Hello Everyone! I just would like to share a necklace and earring set I made last week.

I always make separate pieces and never sets. I decided I wanted to start making sets. When I am working at craft shows, I always get the question, “Do you have any earring and necklace sets?” I just reply, no (with shame).

Well, here it is. My first set. I’m proud of it. I think this one came out pretty nice. I used about two and a half string beads I found at Joann’s craft store. The set took me about an hour or so to make. I change the arrangement a few times before I settled on the final piece.

Please let me know what you think.
